September 10 Morning
"And Jesus went up the mountain, and called men as he pleased, and they came to him."
—Mark 3:13
Impatient people may be annoyed and complain because they are not called to the highest position in the ministry; But rejoice, O reader, for Jesus calls people according to his will. This is sovereignty.
If he asked me to be the gatekeeper of his house, I would gladly bless him for allowing me to do any ministry. The call of Christ's servants comes from heaven. Jesus stood on a mountain, forever surpassing the world in holiness, zeal, love, and power.
Those whom he calls must go up to him, and they must strive to rise to his level by constant fellowship with him. They may not be able to ascend to the honor of classical literature or achieve academic excellence, but they must go up to the mountain of God like Moses and have intimate communion with the invisible God, otherwise they will never be able to preach the gospel of peace.
Jesus stepped aside to have a high level of fellowship with the Father, and if we are to bless our fellow citizens, we must enter into the same holy fellowship. No wonder the apostles came down from the mountain where Jesus was clothed with power.
This morning, we must strive to climb the mountain of fellowship, where we can be ordained and engaged in the life's work for which we were set apart. Do not see people today until we see Jesus. The time spent with him brings blessed interest.
If we go down into the world with the divine power that Christ alone can give, we will also be able to cast out unclean spirits and do wonders. It is useless to go to the battle of the Lord until we arm ourselves with heavenly weapons.
We must see Jesus, and this is crucial. We will linger before the mercy seat until He appears to us as if He did not appear to the world, until we can truly say, "We are with Him on the Holy Mountain."
"Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to all the nations."
