Luke 1:45: Blessed is the believing woman!
In Luke 1:45 we read, "Blessed is the believing woman! for everything which the Lord spake unto her shall be fulfilled." This passage is what Elizabeth said to Mary when the angel Gabriel announced to her that she would become the mother of Jesus. This phrase is not only a praise for Mary, but also an encouragement and reminder to all believers.
The blessings of faith
Mary's blessings came from her faith. She believed in God's Word and in His promises. This faith is not blind, but is based on the knowledge of God and the assurance of His commitments. Her faith made her an important part of God's plan to make her the mother of Jesus and bring the gospel of salvation.
The gift of grace
Mary's blessings also came from God's grace. Her choice was not based on her merit or status, but on the grace of God. The Gospel of Luke emphasizes that God's grace is unconditional, and that He chose Mary because He favored her heart and her faith. This reminds us that grace is a gift from God and is not something we can earn.
The fulfillment of the promise
God's promises to Mary were finally fulfilled. His Word does not fail, and His plan always comes to pass on time. This passage teaches us that when we trust in God's promises, we also experience His blessings and grace. Mary's faith made her a part of God's plan and allowed her to witness how God's promises were fulfilled in her life.
