The Core of the Gospel
Six Key Points · According to the Bible (Chinese Union Version)
God is a holy and righteous Creator.
His law is perfect, and He cannot tolerate sin.(Isaiah 6:3)
We have all broken God's law.
Measured by the Ten Commandments, we are all sinners when we lie, covet, and harbor evil thoughts.(Romans 3:23)
The consequence of sin is death and judgment.
After death, people must stand before God, and sinners deserve eternal punishment.(Romans 6:23; Hebrews 9:27)
Jesus Christ died on the cross in the place of sinners.
The sinless Son of God bore the punishment that sinners deserved.(1 Peter 3:18)
He rose bodily from the dead on the third day.
He conquered death, proving that God has accepted His sacrifice.(1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
God commands people to repent and trust in Christ.
All who repent and trust in Him freely receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.(Mark 1:15)
What do repentance and faith mean?
repent
repentNot merely regret, but acknowledging one's sin before God, sorrowing over sin, turning away from sin, and turning to God.
Faith
FaithIt is not merely believing that Jesus exists, but ceasing to rely on one's own good works, and trusting solely in Jesus Christ and His salvation.
Apostle Paul summarized what he preached as:
"Repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ."Acts 20:21
The Reformed tradition summarizes faith thus:
"Saving faith is the grace of God whereby we receive Christ, resting upon Him alone for salvation, as He is offered to us in the Gospel."— Westminster Shorter Catechism, Question 86 (Site Translation)
You can pray like this (for reference)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."1 John 1:9
